As Assistant Vice President, Government Relations with NAIFA, Judi Carsrud’s responsibilities include meetings with Members of Congress and their staff, regulatory agencies, as well as with industry association partners, to advocate for a positive legislative and regulatory environment in which NAIFA members can serve their clients. Her primary advocacy areas include tax and ERISA issues relative to insurance industry products and retirement savings plans.
Judi has spear-headed NAIFA’s national advocacy efforts regarding the Department of Labor’s (DOL) fiduciary rule.  She held meetings with White House officials, the DOL, FINRA, and the SEC.  NAIFA leaders testified before the DOL in four-day hearings and at several legislative committees hearings with Judi’s guidance. NAIFA was instrumental in the many significant improvements from the proposed rule to the final rule.
Judi brings decades of industry experience as a former owner of a small employee benefits marketing business in California. She has developed a depth of knowledge and experience involving employee benefits, retirement savings, estate planning and the usage of life insurance and annuity products. 
Judi is a frequent contributor to many NAIFA publications such as GovTalk, GovUpdate, and Advisor Today, and is a regular panel speaker at NAIFA’s Congressional Conference and the NAIFA Performance + Purpose Annual Conference. She has been a guest speaker at many NAIFA and non-NAIFA educational seminars.
Born and raised in Southern California, Judi has four adult children and resides in Washington, DC with her dog, Rufus.
