NAIFA names John Richardson 2018 Young Advisors Team Leader of the Year 


NAIFA–Nashville Member is the Ninth Recipient of the Award 


NAIFA has named John D. Richardson, RICP, LACP, the 2018 Young Advisors Team Leader of the Year. Richardson is a financial representative with Peachtree Planning of Tennessee and has been a NAIFA member since 2003. He has served in numerous leadership roles, including president, at NAIFA-Nashville. He is currently the president-elect and membership chair at NAIFA-Tennessee. He is a 2008 NAIFA Leadership in Life Institute (LILI) graduate and the NAIFA-National YAT Committee vice chair. 


Anyone that meets John is immediately drawn to him because of his spirit for others, friendliness and willingness to serve,” said Cathy Balkom, chief administrative officer for NAIFA-Tennessee. He knows how to inspire others and in doing so, did a wonderful job serving on the state board. 


The Young Advisors Team (YAT), a NAIFA program established by NAIFA in 2001, provides networking and educational programs for advisors who are age 40 or under or who have been in the business for less than five years. 


The YAT Leader of the Year Award, which was developed in 2010, recognizes an advisor’s commitment to NAIFA, including service on local, state, and national committees and participation in the Leadership in Life Institute (LILI); involvement with state or federal legislative efforts; participation in external service work such as charities; and an ability to inspire others. 


Richardson is also a leader in his community. He has served as an officer of elections on the Nashville/Davidson County Election Commission since 2002, and has been a campaign manager for two political campaigns. He is also provides leadership for the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), serving as assistant scoutmaster and troop committee chairman for Troop 249 in Nashville. Additionally, he holds leadership positions in the BSA Dan Beard District (Southeast Nashville) and the Middle Tennessee Council.  


Richardson and his wife, Kelly, are very active in their church, The Village Chapel in Nashville.

NAIFA will recognize Richardson as the 2018 YAT Leader of the Year during the 2018 NAIFA Performance + Purpose conference in San Antonio on September 16, 2018.
