NAIFA’s Professional Pathway to Empower Members with Personalized Plan for Success

NAIFA has launched a new online tool to help agents and financial advisors identify the knowledge, skills and abilities to ensure they are on the right path towards achieving professional success and effectively serving their clients.

The new NAIFA Professional Pathway, ™ utilizes a dynamic, online, self-assessment tool linked to a comprehensive set of professional standards that will help advisors assess where they are in their practice and map a personalized professional development plan to take their practice to the next level. The Pathway was strategically developed through a complex process involving industry-specific research, job analysis, and validation by a team of subject matter experts.

“The Professional Pathway is a state-of-the-art tool that benefits all agents and advisors aspiring to higher levels of professional success,” says NAIFA CEO Kevin Mayeux, CAE. “It helps them identify the professional-development skills they need to acquire to continue moving forward. No other association is offering anything like this to help advisors identify and build the specific skills that will lead to success.”

The Pathway is organized across four professional standards:

  1. Interpersonal Skills

  2. Business Acumen

  3. Ethical and Legal Practices

  4. Technical Skills

Within each professional standard, related competencies and behaviors are identified, which support the standard, as well as suggested proficiency standards that are appropriate for early (0-5 years), established (6-10 years) and accomplished (10+ years) career levels.

Agents and advisors may use this information to gauge their knowledge and skill levels and identify gaps that may exist. When mapped to professional-development opportunities – such as the many education and training programs offered through NAIFA membership – the Pathway will empower agents and advisors with a plan to embark on their journey toward greater competency and skill proficiency.

The Professional Pathway is scheduled to launch before the end of the year. For more information, visit www.naifa.org.
