NAIFA applauds NAIC’s Efforts to Raise Consumer Awareness of Retirement Security

The National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) has launched Insure U microsite to encourage consumers “to get smart about insurance and your retirement security” and to help them understand that financial security encompasses a broad spectrum of tools, including many insurance-related products and services.

The site provides a retirement planning checklist that reflects the NAIC’s commitment to enhance retirement security through consumer education, consumer protection and innovation.

John M. Huff, NAIC President and Missouri Insurance Director, said: “We know that too many people are not preparing for retirement, but it is crucial at every life stage, and the earlier you start, the better you can plan for long-term security. For many, insurance is part of a comprehensive retirement plan. That’s why the NAIC is working to both protect and educate consumers, while stepping up efforts with the insurance industry to encourage innovation.”

NAIFA CEO Kevin Mayeux, CAE, added: “NAIFA applauds the NAIC’s new Insure U microsite to raise awareness on the importance of retirement security. For well over a century, thousands of dedicated NAIFA members have helped individuals and families fund major expenses like college, long-term care, and retirement, and reach other financial goals. NAIFA encourages programs that help individuals and families to achieve financial and retirement security like this new microsite.
