Medicare-for-All Bill Introduced

On February 27, Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) introduced H.R.1384, a “Medicare-for-All” bill that eliminates private health insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid and establishes a new government program that would provide health care to all Americans, at no direct cost, within two years of enactment. House Democrats Offer Medicare-for-More Bill

A group of House Democrats are offering a “Medicare-for-More” bill that would permit individuals between the ages of 50 and 64 to have the option of buying into Medicare.  The bill is intended to be a moderate alterative to the Medicare For All legislation.    The bill would allow eligible individuals to use Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax credits and subsidies to help offset the cost of buying into Medicare. Moderate House Democrats Propose ACA “Fix-It” Legislation

A group of moderate House Democrats is pushing legislation to fix the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Among the measures the group is advocating are proposals to establish a national reinsurance program, increases in ACA premium assistance, and resuming cost-sharing reduction payments to health insurers.    The effort is being spearheaded by the New Democrat Coalition, a group of some 101 centrist Democratic House members.
