Senate Finance Approves Tax Extender Package

On April 3, the Senate Finance Committee approved a tax extenders package that includes a “Sense of the Senate” resolution that calls for fundamental tax reform. The $85 billion EXPIRE Act renewed for two years most of the 55 or so expired or expiring tax rules. The bill, which has not yet been introduced, was not offset. Finance Committee chairman Sen. Kentucky Insurance Agents Produce Almost Half of State Exchange Enrollment

According to Bloomberg News, Bill Nold, the Deputy Executive Director of the Kentucky Health Benefit Exchange, recently reported that approximately 44 percent of enrollment through the state health exchange was through an insurance agent, according to Bloomberg News.  To date, Kentucky has enrolled about 400,000 individuals. House OKs Bill to Change ACA Full-Time Work Definition to 40 Hours/Week

On April 3, the House approved legislation to change the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA’s) definition of full-time work from 30 hours per week to 40 hours per week. H.R.2575, sponsored by Rep. Todd Young (R-IN), passed on a bipartisan 248 to 179 vote, with 18 Democrats joining 230 Republicans voting “aye.” Some 210 House members cosponsored the legislation, which NAIFA strongly supports.
