P+PV Recognitions & Awards

Each year at the Performance + Purpose Conference, NAIFA celebrates the achievements of our members and their service to clients, as well as industry leaders who have made an impact in insurance and financial services. P+P is the venue to recognize excellence and congratulate these high achievers before their peers.

John Newton Russell Memorial Award

The JNR award recognizes a lifetime of professional excellence, service to the industry and a commitment to ethical conduct. This year’s winner is Joseph M. Belth, CLU, Ph. D., editor of The Insurance Forum. See announcement and video.

Achievements in Professional Development

NAIFA offers members the opportunity to advance their leadership, professional knowledge and education skills through the Leadership and Life Institiute (LILI) and the LUTCF designation program respectively. NAIFA’s new LACP certification showcases members’ wealth of knowledge and expertise in life insurance and annuities. See members who have graduated from the LILI program, earned the LUTCF designation and the LACP certification.

Diversity Champion Award

The NAIFA Diversity Champion Award, established just this year, recognizes exceptional efforts to promote the full and equal participation of diverse people within the insurance and financial advising profession. NAIFA members in good standing are eligible for this prestigious award. This year’s inaugural recipient is Evelyn Gellar, LUTCF, of Penn Mutual. See announcement. Advisor Today Four Under 40

Each year, Advisor Today magazine recognizes four outstanding financial advisors who achieve excellence in their profession by or before the age of 40. The 2017 winners are Matthew Cuplin, CFP of Midwest Financial Group, Inc.; Brian Haney, CLTC, CFS, CFBS of the Haney Company; Chauvon McFadden of Crimson Wealth Strategies; and Stephanie Rivas, MBA, CLU, ChFC, LUTCF of Prudential Advisors. Young Advisors Team (YAT) Leader of the Year

This award recognizes an advisor’s commitment to NAIFA, participation in external service work such as charities, and an ability to inspire others. This year’s YAT Leader went to Kevin Ross of American Family Life Insurance Company. See announcement

LILI Graduates

The NAIFA Leadership in Life Institute (LILI) develops leaders by fostering personal growth, enhancing business practices and developing skills necessary for effective leadership. Congratulations to this year's graduates! (Download PPT).

C. Carney Smith Award

NAIFA recognized Cathy Balkcom and Kristine Buckles, CAE, with the association’s most prestigious honor in association management. Balkcom is the executive director of NAIFA-Tennessee and Buckles is the executive director of NAIFA-New Jersey and a regional contractor for NAIFA-Illinois. See announcement.
