The Life Insurance Industry: Working Together to Help Protect American Families
As the new Administration, U.S. Congress, and State Legislatures begin considering public policy initiatives in 2009 that may affect each of us, we want to let you know that our industry is standing together to help American families protect their financial and retirement security.
Agents, brokerage general agents, professional managers, and carriers are working together to collectively spread our message that 75 million American families count on the life insurance industry to protect their financial futures.
This Congress will deal with the most complex and profound challenges the country has ever faced. And it will do so with more than 50 newly-elected first-time U.S. Representatives and U.S. Senators who will be looking to you, their constituent, to help guide their positions on critical issues. Congress will focus a great deal of attention on issues important to the life insurance industry such as financial security for families, individuals, and businesses. This environment will provide us with an excellent opportunity to educate new Members of Congress and place our industry’s issues at the forefront of the political debate.
Working towards this end, we have launched a series of print and online advertisements which highlight American families and individual workers. The advertisements send the message that because life is unpredictable, 75 million American families turn to our industry’s products to provide peace of mind, long-term savings, and a guarantee of lifetime income when it's time to retire.
In addition, we have developed a website at www.securefamily.org where policy-makers and consumers can go to learn more about the products we provide. The website contains links to each individual organization and will be expanded in the coming weeks and months. We hope that as we all continue to educate lawmakers, this website will be an excellent source of information for you, your business, and the customers and clients you serve.
Please let NAIFA know if we can be of assistance to you. In the meantime, remember that only by working together can we ensure that our industry remains strong and continues to be able to protect American families.
Sincerely,
