NAIFA National Council Elects 2011-2012 Officers, Trustees to Board

WASHINGTON, DC (September 13, 2011) —The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors' representative governing body, the National Council, has elected new officers and trustees at the 2011 NAIFA Career Conference and Annual Meeting, held in Washington Sept. 10-14.

NAIFA’s new President is Robert A. Miller, MA, MS, of Miller-Pomerantz in New York. Joining Miller on NAIFA’s Executive Committee are: President-elect Robert O. Smith, JD, CLU, ChFC, LIC, of Northwestern Mutual Financial Network in Grand Rapids, Mich.; Treasurer Matthew S. Tassey, CLU, ChFC, LUTCF, of Principal Financial Group in Portland, Maine; and Secretary John Nichols, CLU, DIA of Disability Resource Group, Inc. in Chicago.

After serving his one-year term as president, Terry Headley, LUTCF, LIC, FSS, of The Headley Financial Group, in LaVista, Neb., becomes immediate past president, and will remain a member of NAIFA’s Executive Committee.

Elected to the board for the first time are: Thomas M. Cothron, LUTCF of Southern Farm Bureau Life of Ocala, Fla.; John S. Holmes, III, LUTCF of New York Life in Knoxville, Tenn.; and Van B. Land, LUTCF, RFC, LUTCF, RFC, of Allstate Life Insurance, Grovetown, Ga.

Remaining on the board as trustees are: Brenda D. Doty, LUTCF, FHU, CLU, of The Doty Group in Horseshoe Bend, Ark.; Kenneth R. Evans, CLU, ChFC, LUTCF, CFP, of Principal Financial Group in Murray, Utah; Keith M. Gillies, CLU, ChFC, CFP, of River Parishes Advisors Group, LLC,  in LaPlace, La.; Matthew S. Huntington, CLU, LUTCF, Farmers Insurance in Aurora, Colo.; Lisa Laliberte, CLU, ChFC, CASL, of State Farm Insurance Companies in Lewiston, Maine; Lawrence E. Lounds, CLU, ChFC, LUTCF, of Security 1st Benefits Corporation in Flint, Mich.;  and Juli Y. McNeely, CFP, CLU, LUTCF, of McNeely Financial Services in Spencer, Wis.
