FALLS CHURCH, VA (September 9, 2009) — NAIFA’s newly expanded annual Convention & Career Conference runs September 12-16 at the Orlando World Center Marriott Resort and Convention Center in Orlando, FL.
This year, in addition to the regular business meetings of the association, the convention features 45 educational workshops spread out over three days – nearly three times as many as previous conventions – including some with CE credit available. Workshops are organized into tracks: life and annuities, multiline, health & employee benefits, financial advising & investments, managers/GAMA members, sales, prospecting & marketing and practice management.
Also new this year, attendees in the local area can register for a reduced price, one-day pass to attend the convention, making attendance more convenient and affordable for all members.
Dynamic main stage speakers include Meryl Comer, an award-winning broadcast journalist and president of the Geoffrey Beene Foundation Alzheimer’s Initiative, who talks about her family’s financial struggle with Alzheimer’s and the importance of the products NAIFA members sell. Also featured will be Ronan Tynan, Irish Tenor, champion disabled athlete, and physician. Tynan is best known for his performances of “God Bless America” at the memorial services in New York City and at Yankee Stadium following September 11. He has a great story of overcoming disability and his singing performance will be spine-tingling.
“We tried to expand the convention to appeal to as many member as possible, not just the National Council delegates,” said Tom Currey, CLU, ChFC, 2009 Convention Committee Chair. “By adding more sessions, including CE credits, and allowing members to attend for one day or for the full convention, I think we have a winner this year. And for the third year in a row, we have not increased registration fees, which I think will help everyone, especially this year.”
NAIFA’s convention is also taking advantage of some technological advances. The NAIFA Live Learning Center provides all of the General Session and workshop recordings made available in streaming media format or for download to the computer or an MP3 player. And members and staff will use Twitter during the convention to provide updates and lessons learned from the convention. Follow the 2009 NAIFA Convention at www.twitter.com/NAIFA09 or read the updates on the Convention website at www.naifa.org/convention.
As always, the exposition will feature vendors showcasing products and services specifically geared toward the life and health insurance industry. For more information on NAIFA’s Convention & Career Conference, visit: www.naifa.org/convention.
