National Council Call to Convention

This memo serves as the Official Call to NAIFA's Annual Convention and Career Conference as required by Article X, Section 4 of the Bylaws of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors. The meeting will take place September 6-10, 2008, at the Manchester Grand Hyatt in San Diego, CA.
All delegates are responsible for participating in the "business of NAIFA," which includes voting on any proposed amendments to the bylaws, addressing NAIFA’s proposed policy on insurance regulatory reform and modernization, voting for the new Board of Trustees and other duties.
But the NAIFA Convention and Career Conference has value for every NAIFA member. Everyone is encouraged to “Catch the NAIFA Wave” and join us in San Diego!
In addition to attending to the business of NAIFA, the 2008 Convention and Career Conference will feature top-notch speakers, informative breakout sessions, dinner programs, entertainment, the NAIFA Expo and everything else you have come to expect from this important annual event.

Tuesday afternoon education sessions
Enjoy an extended session with futurist and economist Jeff Thredgold as he takes a look at what the upcoming election and state of the economy means for our business and ourselves. NAIFA’s Government Relations team will lead an informative session on how to make your PAC and PIC more effective. And, the LILI 7 Alumni Workshop is now on Tuesday afternoon to make it more convenient for LILI participants.Independent Advisors Networking Dinner
On Monday night of the Convention when many companies are holding dinners for their advisors, NAIFA is hostingthe Independent Advisors Networking Dinner. Sponsored by NAILBA, this event is free for independent advisors. Advance tickets are required and space is limited.
CE Eligible Workshops
The Sunday afternoon Educational Workshops will feature a selection of sessions eligible for CE credit. The NAIFA Convention and Career Conference provides a variety of workshops organized by tracks – Life Insurance & Annuities; AHIA Health & Employee Benefits; Financial Planning; Multiline and Practice Management. This new event will be held September 5 – 6 and will provide attendees the knowledge to improve even the most successful employee benefits practice. - August 2 is the last day for associations to report their officers to NAIFA so they do not lose their voting representation in the National Council;
- August 14 is the last day for NAIFA to receive notice from locals of their delegates; and
- August 29 is the last day for NAIFA to receive notice of state appointments of local delegates.
