NAIFA applauds lawmakers’ support for legislative solution to strengthen retirement security

NAIFA applauds legislation to be introduced by a bipartisan working group aimed at strengthening retirement security of working families and ensuring retirement advisors protect their clients' best interests.

“NAIFA is pleased the legislation will be introduced so quickly following testimony delivered Dec. 2 before the Education and Workforce Help Subcommittee Hearing,” said NAIFA President Jules Gaudreau, ChFC, CIC, who testified before the subcommittee. “NAIFA members from 44 states held more than 200 meetings with Congressional Offices Dec. 3 to share their perspective on the potentially negative impact the Department of Labor proposed fiduciary rule would have on consumers,” Gaudreau said.
NAIFA thanks members of the bipartisan working group – Representatives Phil Roe (R-TN), Richard Neal (D-MA), Peter Roskam (R-IL), John Larson (D-CT), Buddy Carter (R-GA) and Michelle Lujan Grisham (D-NM) – for their leadership in developing a legislative alternative.
"We look forward to working with Congress and the Administration to ensure retirement savers have access to affordable advice to secure their futures," Gaudreau said.
