NAIFA Expands Online Offerings
If you haven't seen the NAIFA website recently, you're in for a pleasant surprise. The fresh new look and new organization structure makes it even easier to find what you need. And with new features, including members benefits video tutorials, a printable website guide, and a presence on the popular Twitter blog, you have more reasons than ever to keep up with NAIFA online.
The NAIFA home page has been streamlined to eliminate clutter and make room to highlight important programs and features. The rotating banner on the top of the page highlights important programs, a scrollable What's New box gives you the latest information, and large buttons provide quick access to popular pages, including 2009 Convention, Communications Corner, the Professional Development System and the NAIFA Marketplace.
You can also find your favorites by clicking on the "Member Favorites" box at the bottom of the home page. He you'll find links to some of the most popular pages on the site, including the Member Locator, YAT, LILI, and Membership Tracker, and the Member Benefits Calculator.
Click on the "Member Services" button for quick access pages where you can update your member information/record, access the NAIFA Staff Directory, and download a membership application or brochure.
Inside pages are organized by the section titles listed on the home page: Advocacy, Member Benefits. Why Join? News & Events, Consumer Info, Leaders Center, and About NAIFA. Click on the section title to go to that section's home page, review the navigation on the left site, and find new and important content listed in the "Highlights" box on the right.
If you need a quick overview, use the printable "How to Use the NAIFA Website Guide" available at www.naifa.org/webhowto.pdf.
NAIFA also has tools and resources on other popular websites.
You can watch NAIFA-related videos on NAIFA's YouTube page, www.youtube.com/naifavideo. Recent addition to YouTube include a three-part overview of NAIFA's Professional Development System, a 2009 Convention preview, and a pep talk from NAIFA's membership coach. (Please note that NAIFA's YouTube page may include links to content that is not approved by NAIFA.)
The microblogging site Twitter has been in the news recently, and NAIFA has three active Twitter accounts:
- Twitter.com/NAIFA follows all things NAIFA.
- Twitter.com/NAIFA09 focuses on 2009 Convention news.
- Twitter.com/NAIFAYAT provides updates on activities of the YAT: Young Advisors Team.
If you don’t already have a Twitter account, simply go to any of the NAIFA addresses listed above, sign-up with an email address and password, then click on the gray "Follow" button to see NAIFA's updates.

NAIFA also has two social networking sites that are only accessible to specific groups.
The LILI Alumni site at http://lilialumni.ning.com features content for graduates of the Leadership in Life Institute.
The YAT LinkedIn site at http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=1776800 is a networking site for NAIFA members who are 40 years old or under, or have been in the business for five or fewer years.
Another specialized site that is accessible to members is the NAIFA StateChat Blog at
naifa.typepad.com/statechat. StateChat is an online space where NAIFA state associations can share information with other states on legislative and regulatory developments and activities in which they are engaged. Their colleagues from other state associations can, in turn, comment on these activities and share their own experiences.

New Member Benefits Overview DVD Now Available
The new NAIFA Professional Development System has been developed to provide members with high-value products, programs, and services at every stage of their careers. NAIFA Professional Liability Program Announces Enhancements
The NAIFA E&O insurance policy has been modified so that the exclusion relating to criminal acts will apply only to those who have been adjudicated guilty of criminal activities. This means that NAIFA's insured will have coverage for defense costs if someone in the business, but not the insured, engages in criminal activity.
