Advocacy Online:
How to Look up Media Outlets
This is the fifth article in the series "Advocacy Online," which explains how NAIFA members can use NAIFA's Legislative Action Center for grassroots advocacy efforts.
Have you ever wanted to send a NAIFA announcement to newspapers, magazines, TV stations or radio stations? NAIFA's Legislative Action Center can help you do just that with the "Media Guide Tool." As a NAIFA member, you can use the CapWiz media guide to look up local and national media outlets in your area (newspapers, magazines, political publications, radio stations and television stations) and send letters to the editor or coverage requests to reporters and editors. You can also directly send messages to selected outlets and find press release contact information for major newspapers.
To send a message using NAIFA's Legislative Action Center, go to www.capwiz.com/naifa and click "Guide to Media." You can search for media contact by zip code, last name, organization, or state.
Once you have entered your search criteria, the system will generate a list of media contacts. Scroll the list and click the checkbox next to each entry that you want to include in your mailing. Note: You may select up to five media outlets at a time. Once you select the media outlets with which you would like to communicate, click "Compose Message." For each media outlet selected, you can choose to send an email or a printed letter. Simply fill out your personal information, along with your letter composition, and click "Send Message." A copy of the message you composed will be sent to the email address you provided.
Please visit www.capwiz.com/naifa to explore the many tools available in NAIFA's Legislative Action Center.
