170 Association Leaders Meet in Las Vegas to Scratch Their Advocacy Itch

IFAPAC and APIC representatives from around the nation gathered in Las Vegas, Nevada on January 22nd and 23rd to learn the ways of fundraising and grassroots activism.

Highlights of the program included:

  • A “State of NAIFA” address from NAIFA President Tom Currey, CLU, ChFC, LUTCF
  • Presentations by NAIFA President-Elect Terry K. Headley, LUTCF, LIC, FSS and acting NAIFA CEO Dr. Susan Waters, DM, CAE
  • A “Momentum & Motivation for Grassroots & PAC Success” lecture by Amy Showalter of the Showalter Group, Inc.
  • A “Why I’m Running for Congress” presentation by NAIFA Past President John A. Davidson, LUTCF, FSS
  • A federal legislative update featuring:

    • Michael Kerley, Senior Vice President - Federal Government Relations
    • Diane Boyle, Vice President - Federal Government Relations
    • Magenta Ishak, Assistant Vice President - Political Affairs
    • Jill Edwards, Assistant Vice President - Federal Government Relations
  • A YAT perspective by Local President NAIFA-Will/Grundy Mark A. Tan, LUTCF
  • A rousing political call-to-arms from Van E. Mueller, LUTCF.

…and lots and lots of camaraderie. Preliminary survey results reveal that the attendees believed the two-day intensive training program was highly valuable and worth their time.
