How to Contact Your Elected Officials

This is the second article in the series "Advocacy Online," which explains how NAIFA members can use NAIFA's Legislative Action Center for grassroots advocacy efforts.

Have you ever wanted to contact your senators or representatives but didn't know where or how to find their information? The solution is simple. NAIFA's Legislative Action Center allows you to contact your elected officials on any topic, any time. Current contact information, including phone numbers and mailing and email addresses, is in our searchable online congressional directory at www.capwiz.com/naifa.

We encourage you to contact your elected officials and share your thoughts on current events and government policy. NAIFA's Legislative Action Center provides you with all the information to contact your elected officials, including the president, members of Congress, governors, state legislators, and even local officials. Simply click on the link, "Congress and President" or "State Officials," then type in one of three criteria requested (zip code, name or state) and press "Go."

The system will use the information you submit to provide you with your state and federal officials' contact information.

For tips on communicating with elected officials, including what to include in an email, how to address correspondence, what to discuss on a phone call and how to set up a visit to Capital Hill, review the Capitol Hill Basics section at www.capwiz.com/naifa/issues/basics.

Please visit www.capwiz.com/naifa to explore the many tools available in NAIFA's Legislative Action Center.
